Operations at Picanol, an industrial digitalisation leader, has been disabled by a ransomware attack. From other sources it seems that the attack entered Picanol’s IT system via their Chinese subsidiary. Picanol is a company that has fully embraced digitalisation. It would be interesting to know how much attention their cyber security has had. Added to the recent attack on Maastricht University and US company The Heritage Company shutting down with the loss of 300 jobs after being hit by ransomware, the subject should be at the top of every CIO’s agenda.
