Privacy Policy

We protect your privacy and confidentiality. We understand that our users are concerned to know that their data will not be used for any purpose unintended by them and will not fall into the hands of a third party.

This policy discloses what type of information we collect from all visitors and users of the tools, hosted services and websites (collectively, the “Product”), which are offered by Lakana (“Lakana” or “we” or “us”). By accessing or using any part of the Product, you acknowledge you have been informed of and consent to our practices with regard to your personal information and data.

Collection and Use of Information

Here is the information we collect, and why we collect it:

1. Basic identification and contact information, such as name, e-mail address and contact details.
This information is used:
• to provide you with the services which you requested and signed up for;
• to maintain our accounts;
• for billing;
• to enable us to answer your enquiries;
• for verifying your identity for security purposes;
• for implementing the license agreement;
• for marketing our services and products;

2. Information volunteered for a particular purpose, for example a personal profile.
This information will be used exclusively for the purpose for which you have provided it.

3. Business Information
This is information given to us in the course of your business and ours, such as in relation to your application to partner with us or advertise with us. Such information is retained for business use only. It is not used for any other purpose. We expect any partner to reciprocate this policy.

4. Website visitor information
Lakana collects basic non-personally-identifying information from website visitors of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each website visit. We collect this information to better understand how visitors use the Product, to improve performance and content, and to monitor security of the websites.
Lakana may publicly release non-personal-information collected from Product users, e.g., by publishing reports on usage trends, using aggregated statistics that contain anonymous user information only.

Usage and Protection of Personal Information

Sharing of Personal Information
We will not disclose information that identifies you at an individual level and which we collected, to non-Lakana entities other than as described in this policy.
In some cases, Lakana uses resellers located in various countries to collect, use, analyze, and otherwise process information on its behalf. It is Lakana’s practice to require such resellers to handle information in a manner consistent with Lakana’s policies.
We are subject to the law like everyone else. We may be required to give information to legal authorities if they so request or if they have the proper authorisation such as a search warrant or court order.

Retention of Personal Information
We will retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. We will retain and use your personal information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. At any time, you may review or update the personally identifiable information that we hold about you by contacting us. To better safeguard your information, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections to your information.
Information Security and Accuracy
We intend to protect your personal information and to maintain its accuracy. Lakana implements reasonable physical, administrative and technical safeguards to help us protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use and disclosure.

Exchanging diagnostic data with Lakana
To assist you in isolating the cause of a problem with the Product, our support specialists may request that you send Lakana the problem information, systems data, diagnostic data, etc., or that our support specialists be able to view it with you electronically by remotely accessing your system.
Lakana uses information about errors and problems to improve its products and services and to assist with its provision of related support offerings. For these purposes, Lakana may use Lakana staff and approved subcontractors (including in one or more countries other than the one in which you are located), and you authorize Lakana to do so.

You confirm that you have the right to provide us with the data you send to us regarding your problems and errors for the purpose of analyzing that data. You will not send or provide Lakana access to any personally-identifiable information, whether in data or any other form, and will be responsible for reasonable costs and other amounts that Lakana may incur relating to any such information mistakenly provided to Lakana or the loss or disclosure of such information by Lakana, including those arising out of any third-party claims.

Once your data is completely received by Lakana approved means, Lakana will use it only for the purposes for which it was provided – that is, to fix defects or to provide service and support for Lakana products and related services. We will not disclose it to other parties, except to approved subcontractors of Lakana who we may use to help us fix defects or provide support; and we will delete, destroy or return it when it is no longer required.

Links to Non-Lakana Web Sites and Third-Party Applications
To allow you to interact with other Web sites on which you may have accounts (such as Facebook and other social media sites) or join communities on such sites, we may provide links or embed third-party applications that allow you to login, post content or join communities from our Product.
We may also provide you with general links to non-Lakana Web sites and applications.
Your use of these links and applications is subject to the third parties’ privacy policies, and you should become familiar with the third-party sites’ privacy policies before using the links or applications.Lakana is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of those other Web sites and applications.

Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by Dutch laws with respect to user’s rights.

If you think our policy falls short of your expectations or that we are failing to abide by our policy, please do tell us.

Privacy Policy Changes
If this policy should change in the future, then we shall provide notification in advance and we will give all our users the opportunity to indicate whether or not they accept the changes.
